Clove is the dried (cure) unopened flower bud of
the evergreen tree botanically identified as
above. Various parts of the tree Viz: leaves,
stems & buds yield essential oils on steam
distillation and the oils are commercially
identified as Clove Leaf Oil, Clove Stem Oil &
Clove Bud Oil, which are the most valued.
They contain varying amounts of Eugenie and a
characteristics array of terpene. These terpenes, are in high abundance in Sri Lankan
cloves, these give the oil the flavor
that places it in demand as a flavoring agent.
