Citronella is a wild grass and it is cultivated in many
countries. Sri Lanka is a major producer of
Citronella Oil. The essential oil is obtained
from the leaves and stem of the plant. The oil
contains approximately 30% citronellal and 50%

The oil and its vapour are potentially toxic to
insects/birds. Citronella Oil is being widely
used as a mosquito repellent and as an
ingredient in many lotions and creams to drive
